Reuben Hinz

March 26, 1926 — July 24, 2014

Reuben Hinz, 88 of Oshkosh, formerly of Van Dyne, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Bethel Home. He was born March 26, 1926 in the township of Eldorado, the son of Aldor and Ena (Henke) Hinz. On November 3, 1950 he married Anita Hass. He was a lifelong member of St. Johns Lutheran Church of Nekimi where he served as an usher for many years. After working as a milk hauler and cheese maker, Rube worked for Soo Line Railroad of North Fond du lac, and then 26 years at Universal Foundry of Oshkosh. The door was always open for friend and family with whom he truly enjoyed spending time with, telling a story, sharing a song and jokes. Rube always had a smile and a twinkle in his eye. Playing cards and hunting were Rubes favorite past time. He also was a past member of North Fond du lac Sportsman Club.Reuben is survived by his wife Anita of 63 years, three daughters, Sharon Schultz of Oshkosh, Shirley (Fred) Sonnenberg of Van Dyne, Judy (Alan) Nelson of Fond du lac, one son Alan (Valerie) Hinz of Berlin, one brother, David (Marlene) Hinz of Van Dyne, two sisters, Bernice Clark of Butte Des Morts, Betty (Melvin) Matulle of Oshkosh, nine grand-children, nine great grand-children, six step great grand-children, two great-great step grand-children, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Arden and Edmund, two sisters, Marge Hyde, Alice Western, two brothers-in-law, Jim Clark, Clarence Hyde, two sisters-in-law, Jeanette Kissinger and Marie Hinz.Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Konrad-Behlman- Westside, from 4pm until the time of services at 6pm, with Rev. Dan Edwards officiating. Interment will be at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery.The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Bethel Home. A special thanks also to Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care given to Rube.
