Richard "Dick" C. Boese

September 24, 1940 — June 28, 2021

Richard “Dick” C. Boese, age 80, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 at Aurora Medical Center. He was born on September 24, 1940 to the late Norman and Geraldine (Jewson) Boese in Oshkosh. Dick married Julianne Mary Mitchell on October 5, 1963 and their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Elizabeth and Tracy.
Dick was a proud veteran of the United States Army, the Wisconsin National Guard, and a member the American Legion Post #70. He worked at Rockwell International for over 30 years - starting as a guy with a pitchfork picking up shavings, becoming a machine operator, and ultimately becoming a supervisor. After retirement, he worked at the Par 3 Golf Course. Dick was a faithful, lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church.
He was an excellent athlete and outdoorsman. In 1993, he bowled a 701 series game, an achievement that he would repeat. He was inducted into the Oshkosh Rec Department Softball Hall of Fame in 2004. Most everyone on the golf course knew him. He had “his spots” for fishing perch and walleye - which was something he was looking forward to doing this summer with his family. He was a member of Otter Street Fishing Club. Christmas was his favorite holiday, and the family (no matter how far they may have roamed) got together to celebrate. When he wasn’t active, he spent his time enjoying life! He loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was loved more than words can express: He loved his family above all else.
He is lovingly survived by his bride of 57 years, Julie Boese; daughters: Elizabeth (John) Zink, and Tracy (Mike) McCain; grandchildren: Amber Versteegh, William Zink, Austin (Rebecca), Seana, and Mitchell McCain; great-grandchildren: Peyton Zink, Brianna, and Emma Versteegh, Jaxson and Sadie McCain; siblings: Marvin (Darlene), Rodger (Joanie), Greg (Ann), Pamela (Mark) Juedes, Helen (Val) Juedes, and Laura Hagenkord. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, Jackie, Betty, and Julie, brother-in-law Charles B. Mitchell, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: Bob, Andy, Royal (Linda), Clifford, Norman Jr, Bradley; grandson-in-law: Michael Versteegh; and his favorite (cuz he was so naughty) little dog, Pepper.
Dick’s zest for life, family, storytelling, booming laughter, and love for all will be our greatest memories.
A memorial service for Dick will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 12:30 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1860 Wisconsin St. with Rev. Connie Weiss officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established for the Oshkosh Area Humane Society in Dick’s name.
Dick’s family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the Aurora Medical Center Radiology Department (especially Ashley and Dawn), the ICU staff (especially MK and Dr. Mrani) and Chaplin Kelly Vidmar. It is never easy, but your professionalism, compassion, and guidance have been much appreciated throughout Dick’s journey. We want to thank everyone for all of their thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
We love you and will miss you so much!
