Richard Ellis Safford

Richard Ellis Safford passed away peacefully in Tempe, Arizona on Thursday, May 12, 2005. Dick was born on March 14, 1921 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He was the son of Emory and Edna Safford and was the youngest of eight children. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1939 and married Etta Jean Hanneman on September 25, 1943.Dick worked 31 years for Chief Oshkosh Brewery, and 16 years for Oshkosh BGosh until retiring in 1986. He and Jean spent their retirement years in Tempe/Mesa, Arizona during the winter months and enjoyed summer months in Oshkosh.Dick is survived by his wife, Etta Jean; a son, Rick and daughter-in-law Kathi; grandchildren, Geoffrey and Gina all of Healdsburg, CA; sisters-in-law, Nelda Kasuboski, Winzette Eulrich and Naomi Miller of Oshkosh; brothers-in-law, Marvin Hanneman and wife Merle of Mesa, AZ, Lyle Hannemann of South Milwaukee and his large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.Services will be held on Friday, August 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Eastside) the Rev. Ralph Hanusa officiating. Family and friends may call at the Waugoo Ave funeral home from 10:00 a.m. to the service time with interment to follow at Lake View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dicks honor to the American Diabetes Association.
