Robert J. Schlomann, 93 of Oshkosh, died Friday January 25, 2008 at the Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born in Bryant, SD on March 4, 1914 son of Thomas Herman and Emma Schmidt Schlomann Tony, WI. On August 17, 1939 he married Alice D. Olson in Glen Flora, WI. She preceded him in death. Robert was an educator for 43 years and graduated from the University of Wisconsin River Falls in 1939. He earned a Masters of Education at CSU Fort Collins, CO. He worked for the State Soil Conservation District in Butlerville, IN. He taught in Wabeno, WI (where he was the football coach). He taught High School vocational agriculture along with farm management for World War II and Korean War Veterans. He retired in 1982 after teaching soil conservation and agricultural business for 14 years at the Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, WI. He had been a Township Assessor and held a Wisconsin Realtors license. He is a 1939 state Golden Gloves Heavyweight Champion. He played tackle on the 1938 Champion River Falls College football team. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his family and writing. He was the published author of the book, The Thread of Love, published in 1986 and dedicated to his parents. He wrote a collection of short stories The Way It Was. He is survived by three sons, Stanley Schlomann of Oklahoma, Roger Schlomann of Michigan, and Merlin Schlomann of Wisconsin, two daughters, Nancy Berenz of Colorado, and Susan Babler of Wisconsin, fifteen grandchildren, Lisa Schlomann, Deborah Schlomann, Rachel Schlomann, Darren Schlomann, Brett Schlomann, Robert W. Schlomann, Rory Schlomann, Roger Paul Schlomann, Ross Schlomann, Todd Schlomann, Ricky Schlomann, Sheila Schlomann Lewis, Andrew Berenz, Brian Berenz, Tracie Babler, and Tina Babler, and great grandchildren ranging in age from 2 months to 18 years. He was also preceded in death by a son, Bobby Schlomann, brothers, William and Paul Schlomann, and a sister, Ann Nelson. There will be no immediate services for Robert. Memorials may be directed to the Aurora Visiting Nurses Hospice at 700 N. Westhaven Drive Oshkosh, WI 54904.
