Robert John Born

Robert John Born, 72, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at his home on September 28, 2014. He was born on July 8, 1942 to John and Bernice (Nolte) Born. Robert married Frances Shikoski on July 8, 1983 in Oshkosh.Robert graduated from Oshkosh High School. He enlisted in the US Army in 1961 and worked at Fort Hood in personnel administration during the Cuban Crisis and the Kennedy Assassination. After his discharge Robert was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 36 years. He was secretary for the Postal Carriers Union for 10 years and on the Board of Directors for the Oshkosh Postal Credit Union from 1985-1989. Robert enjoyed cards, cribbage, sheepshead, dartball, watching western movies, dancing, camping with his many friends, going on vacations and watching Packer and Badger football.Robert is survived by his wife Frances; one daughter Ann (Dave) Reichenberger; a step-son John Lewellyn and a step-daughter Julie (Greg) Schori; brother Fred (Marsha) Born and a sister Gloria (Dave) Rozek; grandchildren Zachary and Issac Reichenberger, Joshua, Jacob, Sarah and Jonah Schori and Dakota Bleser.He was preceded in death by his brother Leslie Hammond; sister Emma Dillman; sister-in-law Karen Born and his uncle and godfather Henry Nolte.A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at St. Jude the Apostle Parish-St. Vincents Church at 6:00 p.m with Rev. Michael Warden officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 4:00 pm until time of service. Burial will be at Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake.
