Robert Lewis Yarbro

Robert Lewis. Yarbro, age: 82, died at the Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, WI on Tuesday, July 31.Bob was born on May 25, 1925 in Bartow, Fl., to David and Rubie (Ford) Yarbro. He grew up in Paducah, Ky. where he graduated from Tillman High School in 1944. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy. On July 4, 1947 he married Ethel Simons.Bob earned a Bachelor of Architecture from University of Notre Dame in 1950 He was an architect in Oshkosh with several firms before joining Sandstedt and Knoop where he became a partner in Sandstedt Knoop and Yarbro which later became Yarbro-Kempinger Architects, Inc.Bob was most proud of his architectural work in the renovation of the Grand Opera House in 1986. His work also includes the First United Methodist Church in Oshkosh, the Charter Center at Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church in Oshkosh, and many buildings for the University of Wisconsin campuses, including the Planetarium and Halsey Science Center at UW-Oshkosh.He is survived by his wife, Ethel; three children Barry (Kathleen) Yarbro of Oshkosh, Susan (John) Zuckerman of Bolton, MA, and Mark (Diane) Yarbro of Neenah; five grandchildren: Peter, Christopher (Amanda), Steven, Matthew and Amanda, one great-grandchild, Aaron, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a brother, John, and sisters Cynthia Knaus and Dorothy (Robert) Henry. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Rex, William and sister, Elsie.A memorial service will be held at Algoma United Methodist Church, 1174 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh, on Saturday, August 4, at noon with the Reverend Gordon Lind officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, August 3 from 4 p.m. to7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.Memorials may be given to Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church or to the Grand Opera House Foundation (Donations may be mailed to the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home).
