Robert M. Himmler Sr. age 87 of Oshkosh, died at his home on Monday, October 24, 2011. Bob was born in Oshkosh on January 2, 1924, a son of the late Herbert and Mae Hartwell Himmler. He married Janet L. Hawley on February 19, 1949 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Oshkosh.Bob served his country in the U.S.Army during WWII. He was employed at Paine Lumber and retired from the Morgan Company in 1989. Bob was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Parish and attended St. Peter Catholic Church. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign War Post #1908. He enjoyed fishing, playing Cribbage in the Rec. Dept. Cribbage League and riding his bicycle all over, having logged over 40,000 miles after his retirement.Survivors include his wife, Janet L. Himmler of Oshkosh; one son, Robert (Joy) Himmler Jr, Oshkosh; one daughter, Barbara (Gregory) Foust, Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Emily (Jason) Ernster of Maplewood, MN; Brett Himmler of Oshkosh; Michael Foust of Oshkosh; Kimberly Foust of Oshkosh; one great granddaughter, Claire Ernster of Maplewood, MN.; and one brother, Leonard (Karon) Himmler of Oshkosh. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Harry and Herbert Himmler; four sisters, Dolores Butler, Agnes Fink, Helen Ruedinger and Katherine Kumbier.A Mass of Christian Burial for Bob will be held at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, St Peters Church (435 High Ave.) on Saturday October 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Rev. James Jugenheimer officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 AM to the time of Mass. Interment with Military Honors will be at Lake View Memorial Park on Monday October 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established to the Military Veterans Museum Inc. in Oshkosh.
