Obituary for Roger W. Nelson

Roger W. Nelson, age 63, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018 at The Waterford at Oshkosh. He was born to Earl and Betty (McNamee) Nelson on December 5, 1954 in Neenah. He married the love of his life, Mary Ranieri, on March 18, 1977 at the Newman Center. He graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a Bachelors degree in Liberal Arts in 2004 and went to Wartburg Seminary until, due to some health issues, he could no longer attend. Roger worked at a few places throughout his life; starting at JJ Keller as a bookbinder, becoming a sales associate with Kitz and Pfeil, and as maintenance man with Carmel Residence. Roger could fix anything from computers to toilets. Roger and Mary were members at Calvary Lutheran Church. He enjoyed reading his bible and reading and watching Sci-Fi books and movies. He loved spending time with his family.
Roger is survived by his mother Betty, wife Mary; children, Eric (Brandi) Nelson and Lisa (Patrick Gelhar) Nelson; grandchildren, Michael, Dominic, Vincent, Griffyn, and Azalea; brother, Robert (Patti); and sister, Julie (Jeff) Peterson, and Diana (Randy) Aronson. Roger will also be lovingly remembered by his wife’s family; Liz (Don) Pelky, Rose Faust, Lynn Reimer (Jose), Bill Ranieri (Carissa), Pat (Paul) Heimmermann, Donna (Jim) Herkert, godson Steven Faust, goddaughter Nicole Herkert, and many other nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held by the family.
