Ronald August 'Pappy' Papenfuss, age 80, of Oshkosh, died Monday March 25, 2013 at Park View Health Center. Ronald was born in Sheboygan on August 1, 1932, the son of Otto and Sophie Alt Papenfuss. On May 8, 1954 Ronald married his wife of 58 years, Gertrude Mitzi Weber, also from Sheboygan.Following his service in the United States Air Force, Papenfuss was a brew master at several regional breweries prior to moving to Oshkosh in 1966. He worked at the Peoples Brewery until its closure in 1972 and was then employed by the Oshkosh Truck Corporation where he worked until his retirement. Papenfuss was a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, a member of the American Legion Post #70 and the Last Mans Club.He is survived by his wife Gertrude Mitzi Papenfuss, one son Keith (June) Papenfuss of Plymouth, one daughter Sara (John) Baier of Edmond, Oklahoma, five grandchildren Nicole Papenfuss Varner, Jessie Papenfuss, Alyssa Baier, Michael Baier, Matthew Baier, two great-grandchildren Julia and Gabby Varner, two sisters Doris Shalenko of Richmond, Virginia, and Joan (Vic) Ouimette of Mercer, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents.Funeral services for Ronald will be held on Saturday March 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (2450 W. 9th Avenue) with Rev. Roger Erdman officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Lake View Memorial Park.A memorial has been established.The Papenfuss family would like to thank the staffs of both the Aurora Medical Center as well as the Park View Health Center for their compassionate care.
