Rose Mae Mehne

Rose M. (Hungerford) Mehne, of Oshkosh, passed into eternal life Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the age of 96. Rose was born in Waupaca County, WI on September 9, 1917, the daughter of Arthur and Louise Hungerford. Rose graduated from high school in 1936, and worked several years in Waupaca, where she met Robert Mehne. They married April 5, 1941 in Oshkosh and enjoyed a wonderful life together. They traveled the United States by trailer or bus, and also enjoyed trips to the Holy Land, Germany, Alaska, and Hawaii. They were a few months short of 72 years of marriage when Robert passed away on January 6, 2013.Rose worked for the State College cafeteria, Andersons Book Store, and Miles Kimball. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served many years as treasurer of the Ladies Aid Society and was a member of Sociables. She enjoyed her card club friends. Rose was also a former president of the Gold Star Mothers. She loved baking cookies and desserts and sharing them with her friends and neighbors.Rose is survived by a sister-in-law, Nila Mael, Almond, WI, a niece Hazel Warm, Arizona, nephew Herbert (Judy) Mehne, Menomonie, WI and their family, niece Paula (Mael)(Van) Komurka and their sons Andrew and Joel, West Bend, WI, niece Ann (Ron) Lillyroot, Cedarburg, WI and their family, niece Christy Chilewski of Coloma, WI.; and nephews Rev. Dr. William H. (Paula) Otto and family, and Donald (Terry) Otto and family. She is further survived by dear friends Elsie Kleman, Eldora Edwards, Dale and Kathy Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Behm, Lucille Miller, and Bob and Diane Zuehlsdorf. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, their son Richard in 1967, her half-sister Pearl of Ohio, and her parents.Funeral services for Rose will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home Westside with Rev. Kelly Leary officiating. Visitation will be from 10am until the service time at 11am. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. Memorials in Roses name to Trinity Lutheran Church (370 Bowen Street, Oshkosh, WI 54901) would be appreciated. Also many thanks for the kindness and care shown to Rose by the staff at Bella Vista.
