Roy Jack Schuessler

March 23, 1934 — April 25, 2016

Roy Schuessler, age 82, of Oshkosh passed away on April 25, 2016, at Aurora Medical Center. He was born on March 23, 1934, in Oshkosh the son of the late Edward and Agnes (Weber) Schuessler. As a youth, Roy washed cars for the Buick Garage and played baseball as a left-handed pitcher. He proudly served his country during the Korean War with the 5th Air Force 6147th Tac Con Group Mosquitoes. He married the love of his life, Charlotte Degner, on September 25, 1954, and they enjoyed 61 years together. He worked for Pluswood as a lift truck driver for 48 years, retiring in 2002. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church and served as an usher for 25 years; as well as setting up tableau and cutting Christmas trees. He enjoyed the outdoors, family games and picnics, country drives and helping people; whether family, friend or stranger.He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; a daughter, Charmaine (Edward) Czaja; three sons, George (Ladora), James (Jeanette), and Roy L. (Michele) Schuessler; 10 grandchildren: Heather (Ben) Roelse, Amanda (Anthony) Frank, Brian and Andrew Schuessler, Nicholas (Fiance Jamie Kraft) Czaja, Nathan Czaja, Sarah (Fianc Jonathan Jacobson) Schuessler, Emily Schuessler, Kyle and Dylan Conrad; two great-grandsons: Bryce and Wesley Roelse; one brother, Harry (Nyna) Schuessler, and one sister, Clara Dorsey. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Roy is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Edward Jr., and George Schuessler, and one sister, Marion Kuzenski.Funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota St., with Rev. Tim Greenwald and Rev. Martin Ruge officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service. Interment will take place at Lake View Memorial Park with military honors. The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit for their tender care.
