Shirley Ann Stark

June 21, 1933 — April 17, 2012

Shirley Ann Stark (nee Smith), 78, of Oshkosh passed away peacefully at Oakwood Manor on Tuesday evening with her children by her side. Shirley was born in Coloma, WI on June 21, 1933. She was the 10th child of Archie and Flossie (Dewitt) Smith. Shirley attended and graduated from Princeton High School. She married Elmer Stark in 1951 and moved to Oshkosh. She had worked at Kustom Kleen, Miles Kimball, Park Plaza, Evergreen and 4imprint. Besides working outside the home, Shirley and Elmer were wonderful foster parents to over 25 children. She touched the hearts of many and will surely be missed. Shirley leaves behind her five children; Robert (Mary) Stark of Oshkosh, Sandra (Tim) Winkler of Oshkosh, Susan (Ervin) Portman of North Carolina, Randy (Beth) Stark of Oshkosh and Shelby (Allan) Goranson of Oshkosh; a very special foster child, Terre Boettcher and her family; two sisters, Betty Broughton of California, Nellie Gibbs of Princeton; one brother, Ken Smith of Nekoosa; 12 wonderful grandchildren and 11 special great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Elmer, her parents, five brothers and three sisters.Funeral services for Shirley will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home - Westside with the Rev. Jeff Berg officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the service time. Interment will be at Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial has been established.We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all of those who have comforted us with their presence at this very difficult time. In particular, we want to recognize the wonderful staff and friends at Oakwood Manor and Heartland Hospice, the Pastors at Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church and everyone at Lakeland Care District. You all have made this sad time very comforting. We know that our Mom will finally be at peace and will find happiness again with her husband Elmer.
