Shirley Lydia Stauffer

March 22, 1925 — May 28, 2012

Shirley L. Stauffer, age 87 of Oshkosh, died peacefully on May 28, 2012 at Aurora Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born in Oshkosh on March 22, 1925, to William A. and Erna Schuttler Wrasse. She married Robert E. Stauffer Sr. in Oshkosh, on August 23, 1947. Survivors include her husband Robert E. Stauffer Sr.; her two sons Robert E. (Karen) Stauffer Jr. of Oshkosh and Scott W. (Deb) Stauffer of Littleton, CO; her three grandchildren Tina (Tony) Barzano, Jason (Angie) Jaes, and Ryan Scott Stauffer; and one great-grandson Alexander Schoenick. Other survivors include her brother William A. (Fleurette) Wrasse Jr.; her sisters-in-law Jane Gutknecht and Carol Hanson; her brother-in-law Russell (Carolyn) Stauffer and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Lois Boelter and her brother Neil Wrasse. Shirley worked for 40 years as the office manager at Robert E. Stauffer & Co., C.P.As and a partner in all of Bobs businesses including the Westhaven Golf Club, Olsens Mill Direct and the Westhaven Development. Shirley was also dedicated to Emmanuel United Church of Christ and served as treasurer for 5 years, Sunday School teacher for 65 years, Chancel Choir member for 50 years, and Chime Choir member, as well as a volunteer on various other committees. She was also the past president of the Womens Division of the Oshkosh Chamber and was repeatedly Judges Chair for the Miss Oshkosh Pageant. An avid bridge player in several clubs, Shirley played and won her last game on Tuesday, May 22. Bob and Shirley traveled extensively around the world and enjoyed many years of camping across the United States as a family. Funeral services will be held at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 1306 Michigan St., on Thursday May 31, 2012 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Andi Wolf officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10:00 am to the time of service. Following the service, there will be a reception in the Fellowship Hall. Interment will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery at a future date. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial gifts be directed to the Emmanuel United Church of Christ organ renovation fund.
