Thelma Lucille Schmitz

Thelma L. Schmitz, age 100 died December 30, 2011 at the Sterling House in Oshkosh. She was born in the Town of Rushford on August 7, 1911, a daughter of the late Louis and Jennie Loker Beck. Thelma married Otto M. Christianson on October 20, 1934 in Oshkosh. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1954. She later married Roman Schmitz on October 1, 1960 in Dubuque, IA. Roman preceded her in death on June 6, 1995.Thelma was a member of Peace Lutheran Church. She had worked at C.A.Neuburger Company as a seamstress. Thelma and Otto worked for some time at the Oshkosh Elks Club managing the bar and restaurant part of the club. They founded the Hi-K Supper Club in Zion, WI and operated it for many years. After selling the Hi-K Supper Club, Thelma worked at the Sarres Supper Club and the Westhaven Club House before retiring.Survivors include four step children, Ronald (Roseanne) Schmitz of Sheboygan Falls, WI; Lyle (Patty) Schmitz of Oshkosh; Jean Beck of Oshkosh; and Connie (Steve) Zellner of Omro. She is further survived by four brothers, Lyle (Mae) Beck of Oshkosh; Howard (Jane) Beck of Oshkosh; Russell (Lorraine) Beck of Oshkosh and Armond (Marion) Beck of Oshkosh; 19 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Otto and Roman; two step daughters, Karen Huhta, Joyce Schmitz; one step son, Thomas E. Christianson; one sister, Arlene Sawall, three brothers, Budd A. Beck, Earl R. Beck and Wayne R. Beck.Funeral services will be held at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside on Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ralph Hanusa officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to the time of service. Interment will follow at Ellenwood Cemetery. A memorial is being established to Peace Lutheran Church.Special thanks to the staff and management at the Sterling House in Oshkosh for your wonderful care for Thelma.
