Vernon H Young

December 22, 1919 — March 4, 2006

Vernon H. Young, 86, of Oshkosh died Saturday March 4, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born December 22, 1919 in Kensal, ND a son of the late Otto and Bertha (Zielke) Young. Vernon married Betty Brown on August 4, 1945 in Park Ridge, IL. Vernon was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Army. He was hired on Jan. 14, 1946 at Swain-Nelson Co., which is now SNC Manufacturing Co. In 1960 he was promoted to Vice President of Sales, which he held until his retirement on Dec. 31, 1986. Vernon joined the SNC Board of Directors in 1987 and served on the board until June 30, 2002. He was a member of St. Andrew Ev. Lutheran Church. Vernon was a former board member of the American Red Cross and was active in other community and church functions. He is survived by his wife Betty of Oshkosh; five children Jim (Nancy) Young of Granby, CO, Jill (Richard) Clifton of Missoula, MT, Jack (Debra) Young of Huntington Beach, CA, Jeff Young of Atlanta, GA, and Jody Young of Park City, UT; five grandchildren Tom, Brie, Cole, Alison, and Brad; three siblings Helen Pugh of CA, Les (Bernice) Young of CO, and Arlene McDougall of ND; several nieces and nephews. Memorial services for Vernon will be held Saturday March 11, 2006 at 11:30 AM at St. Andrew Ev. Lutheran Church, Rev. Karen Jewell officiating. Family and friends may call at the church Saturday from 10 AM until the service. In lieu of flowers a contribution in Verns name may be made to the charity of your choice.
