Victor Bernell Doc Rossing, Jr. passed away after a two month battle with liver cancer. He was born March 26, 1924, in Argyle, WI to Victor B. and Marie M. (Nelson) Rossing, Sr. Victor graduated from the Argyle High School in 1941. He, along with brother, William (Bill), were on the famed 6 man football team, with leather helmets (no face-guard) and few pads for protection. Both Victor and Bill were undefeated for 2 years. Victor was sought after by Curly Lambeau to play halfback for the Packers, only problem, WWII came. Victor had a decorated military record, was pharmacist; mate second class USNR and was honorably discharged from the US Navy Separation Center Great Lakes, Illinois. His period of active duty was from 2/15/43 to 3/9/46, mostly in the South Pacific, Guam. He went to the Old Glory Honor Flight from Appleton, WI to Washington, DC on 4/11/13.Victor was well educated. He received his bachelor degree from Luther College in Decorah, WI. Later, he resumed further education at UNC in Chapel Hill, NC, where he received his Master Degree in Public Health. Victor worked in Racine, WI, as Head of Sanitation. He was promoted and moved to Oshkosh, WI in 1960 where he was hired as the Director of Public Health & Welfare for the City of Oshkosh. Victor was the first city employee hired with a master degree. He retired in 1988 and was presented the key to the city for outstanding and faithful service from July 8, 1960 to January 4, 1988.Victor was united in marriage to Patricia Pat Anderson on April 17, 1949. He is survived by his three children, Rhonda Marie Rossing, Menasha, WI, John Victor (Cathy)Rossing, Oshkosh, WI, Mary Elizabeth (Tom) Jensen, Appleton, WI; six grandchildren, Adrian, Chloe, Ingrid, Monica, Martha, Christian; and a brother, David Rossing, Argyle, WI. Victor was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia on March 24, 2011; three sisters, Charlotte and Dorothy Rossing and Ruth M. Emery; brother, William H. Bill Rossing; twin brothers at birth; and a nephew.Victor was a member of First English Lutheran Church-Oshkosh, was an avid reader, enjoyed musky fishing with his brother, Bill and son, John in Northern Wisconsin Lakes. Victor traveled with his wife, Pat to many places, most recent to Nevada and Arizona with John to visit his home and to see the beautiful mountains. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends.Memorial services for Doc will be held at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes Westside at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2015 with the Revs. Judy Deckert and Mike Dismer officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to the service time. There will also be a visitation on Saturday, January 31, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. at the Erickson Funeral Home (801 East Milwaukee Street Argyle, WI 53504). Inurnment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Argyle, WI, along with wife, Pat that will include Military Honors. There will be services at a later date in Arizona.Victors family is grateful for the entire staff at Evergreen Retirement Community, along with Affinity Visiting Nurses.
