Virgil Neubauer

January 23, 1935 — July 24, 2014

Virgil Neubauer, 79, died Thursday, July 24, 2014 at home with his family by his side due to complications from an accident. He was born January 23, 1935 to the late Walter and Anna (Behm) Neubauer in Weyauwega. He married Phyllis Schoerning on August 31, 1957 in New London. After he married Phyllis they moved to Oshkosh. He then served in the military from 1957 to 1959 with two more years in the reserves. He was employed by Paine Lumber Company for several years, and then over 28 years with Duwe Concrete of Oshkosh. His final employment was five years with Bemis Curwood. After he retired he never stopped being active. He would go all day whether it was his passion for gardening, planting trees, or cutting wood he was doing what he loved. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, hunting opening day at the cabin with his son Todd, his card club family, and the guys at volleyball. He lived for the farmers market, and spending time with his grandson, Hunter. He was a wonderful husband, great dad, and his favorite role was grandfather. His faith in God was strong. Virgil will be missed by many family members and friends. He will live in our memoriesIn addition to his wife Phyllis, he is survived by two daughters, Tina Neubauer, Oshkosh, Lisa (fiance Robert Ross) Hamm, Greenville; son, Todd Neubauer, Oshkosh; two brothers, Kenneth Neubauer, Oshkosh, Arlin Neubauer, New London; sister, Darlene Neubauer, Verona, and grand child, Hunter Hamm, Greenville. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon and Leland Smokey Neubauer and two sisters, Gloria Ann and Virginia Neubauer.Funeral Services for Virgil will take place on Wednesday, July 30, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 913 Nebraska St., at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeff Duquaine officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the service time. Interment will be at Ellenwood Cemetery.
