Vivian Lila Riedel (Dalum), 80, died July 5, 2014 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. Born in Caroline, WI to Adolph and Rufena Dalum on July 6th, 1933, she was a graduate of Marion High School, Marion WI. After marrying her husband of 57 years William Riedel in 1957, she lived in Appleton and Oshkosh, raising three children. She had been employed by Bethel Home as a nursing assistant from 1972 to 1983. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran church and a member of All Saints Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. She was a frequent volunteer in church programs, including the Stephen Ministry program, and the Sojourner Ministry program at Bethel Home. She had been a member of the church voice and bell choirs, and was a lover of music. In her high school years, she played banjo as a member of Pits and his Pals. She and Bill enjoyed bowling, golf, and playing cards with friends. Vivian enjoyed travel, both with Bill and with her children, accompanying them on trips in the US and to Europe.Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, always smiling, always thinking of others before herself. Throughout her life, she was an avid birdwatcher, and was always thrilled to spot a Cedar Waxwing. Vivian was preceded in death by her mother, Rufena (Genskow) Dalum, father Adolph Dalum and brother Roger Dalum. She is survived by her sister Nancy Dalum (Appleton, WI) and her sister Marilyn Sternagel (Ron), Appleton, WI; her husband William (Bill); her son Steve Riedel (Minneapolis, MN); her daughter, Sue McInnis (Tom), Oshkosh; her daughter Mary Riedel (Holmen, WI); and three grandchildren, Grace Riedel (Minneapolis, MN), Spencer Riedel (Minneapolis) and Shannon McInnis (Oshkosh).A memorial service and reception celebrating Vivians life are scheduled for Friday, July 11th at All Saints Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, with visitation from 9:00am to 11:00 am, Memorial Service at 11:00 am followed by a luncheon. Her ashes will be interred in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Caroline, WI. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Bethel Home and Elijahs Place, Aurora Hospice and the Sojourner Ministry volunteers at Bethel Home for the loving care they provided to Vivian these last few years.
