Walter H Jorgenson

Walter H. Jorgenson, 93, died at Northpoint Medical & Rehabilitation Center in Oshkosh on June 9, 2006, Friday, due to complications of old age. He has resided there since 1998.Walter was born February 10, 1913 in the Town of Farmington, Waupaca County, Wisconsin, the fourth of five children born to William and Emma (Anderson) Jorgenson.On December 19, 1936 he married Mildred Mortenson in Waupaca, Wisconsin. They resided in Oshkosh most of their married lives and were members of Peace Lutheran Church for 69 years. Mildred died January 20, 1988.Walter is survived by his two children and their families. They are Jerry (Judith) Jorgenson of Oshkosh and Janet (Richard) Schneider of Bozeman, MT; further survived by five grandchildren, Scott Jorgenson (Robert Brueggman), Omro; Susan (James) Robl and Stephanie (Rodney) Beck of Oshkosh; Richard (Stacy) Schneider of Belgrade, MT; and Jason (Elizabeth) Schneider of Bozeman, MT; further survived by eleven great-grandchildren, Molly, Ellen, Mitchell, Thomas, Jerald and Robert Beck, Amanda, Audrey and Emma Robl, all of Oshkosh and Sydney and Rachel Schneider of Belgrade, MT; a cousin Donald (Vesta) Anderson, sister-in-law Viona Jorgenson of Waupaca; and nieces and nephews.He was preceded by his wife, Mildred, sister Myrtle Jorgenson, brothers, Lee (Laura), Gene (Eleanore) and Earl Jorgenson as well as brothers and sisters in laws, Alton and Virginia Mortenson, Vivian Erickson, and Walter and Lois Benotsch.Walter enjoyed many years of going to his 40 and the shack in Waupaca - hunting and enjoying the woods. Walter and son, Jerry spent many Saturdays making firewood on the 40 and he cherished the many trips to Bozeman, MT to visit his daughter and her family. He was a caring father, grandfather and great grandfather.He spent 20 plus years living at Lake Rest Resort where he rented boats and took care of the cottages. He was known by all for his ability to fix many things and he took good care of his neighbors. He retired from Rockwell International in 1972 where he had worked 31 years and 4 months.When residing at Northpoint many were familiar with Walter pushing his wheelchair around the nursing home grounds, feeding seed, corn, and bread to the birds, squirrels and ducks. He was fondly nicknamed the Birdman.The family wishes to thank the staff at Northpoint for the eight years of excellent, kind and compassionate care that Walter received, and also to his faithful friends for their many visits over the years.Funeral service for Walter will be held on Tuesday June 13, 2006 at Noon at Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ralph Hanusa officiating. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery Family and friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of the service.A memorial has been established.
