Walter Harvey Jeschke

Walter Mike H. Jeschke, age 94 years young, of Oshkosh died Friday February 10, 2012 at Aurora Medical Center. He was born on October 4, 1917 in Oshkosh a son of William and Elsie Radtke Jeschke. On April 23, 1949 he married Vera J. Luther in Oshkosh. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1991.He enlisted in the United States Army 127th Infantry and into active service in 1940. He went with the 32nd Red Arrow Division in the Pacific Theater. He retired after 20 years of service as a Master Sargeant-E8. While in the Army he received the medal for Pacific service, the medal of Army Commendation, Good Conduct medal with four awards, Occupation Medal in Germany, National Service Defense medal, Combat Infantry Mans Award, Presidential Unit Citation. His enlistment includes tours of duty in New Guinea, the Philippines, Korea, Germany twice and various forts in the United States and retiring from 5th Army Headquarters in Chicago. After his retirement from the Army he worked at Morgan Doors and Georgia Pacific, retiring at the age of 65. Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing.He is survived by his son-in-law Joseph Kyano, a great-grandchild Madison Sitas, three nieces, Lori, Randy and Kathy and friend and caregiver Sharon Jackson.He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his daughter Diane K. Kyano, his brothers William, Carl, Harvey, two sisters Harriet Bahla, and Ella Baumgarten.Graveside services for Mike will be held on Tuesday February 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lake View Memorial Park with Rev. Karen Jewell officiating.
