William Charles Ziebell

September 26, 1921 — April 21, 2012

William C. Bill Ziebell age 90, of Oshkosh passed away Saturday April 21, 2012 at Evergreen. Bill was born to Charles and Ida Ernst Ziebell on September 26, 1921. A graduate of Oshkosh High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in the South Pacific doing tours in Iwo Jima, Saipan, Tinian Island, and the Marshall Islands. He married Ellen Brownlee, wife of 64 years on September 1947. Ellen passed away on August 17, 2008. Bill owned Valley Music Company for 63 years. Thank you to the many schools and band directors in the Oshkosh and surrounding areas for their loyal business throughout the life of Valley Music Company. Bill enjoyed playing his trumpet in numerous dance bands before his time in the service. After the war he attended the Conn School of band instrument repair in Elkhart, Indiana. Bill was also an instructor for the Oneida Nation band instrument repair program. He loved Native American history. He also loved boating, fishing, hunting, and a member of the Power Boat Club for many years. He was also a member of the Marine Corps League and Veterans of Foreign Wars Florian Lampert Post 1908 in Oshkosh. Bill was an avid Chicago Cubs and Packers fan.Bill and Ellen had three children, Bill Ziebell II of Oshkosh; Mary (Fianc Doug Krueger) Bruch of Little Chute; and Charles Ziebell of Oshkosh; three grandchildren, Kelli Jo (Eric) Vanderweilen of Greenville; Joel M. (Nicole) Bruch of Little Chute; Alexis J. Ziebell of Oshkosh; and two great-grandchildren, Ella Jo and Karter Vanderweilen of Greenville; one niece Elissa (James) Schuhart; one nephew, Jack (Marge) Schein and special friend, Mary Thomas. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Germaine Schein. Our family would like to extend great thanks to the entire Creekview South nursing team for all the loving care the past year, especially dads last days, you became our families family. James and Shirley, you were extra special to our dad.Dad appreciated the opportunity to be part of the Old Glory Honor Flight to Washington D.C., only two weeks ago with his son Charlie, which turned out to be a great send off, given our fathers death so quickly after. Dad you got your final salute! Semper Fi. We will miss and love you forever, we wont say Good Bye, well just see ya later.A private family service will be held with Rev. Ralph Hanusa officiating. Interment will be at Peace Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the next Old Glory Honor Flight.
