Wyona J. Pope

Wyona Joyce Pope was born on December 19, 1930, as the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Michels) Posorske in the town of Rushford, Eureka, WI. Wyona, who aged 90 beautiful years, passed peacefully at 7:20 in the morning on August 17, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.

Wyona graduated from Oshkosh High School. Although she aspired to become a pilot in the air force, she became a legal secretary. Wyona earned her diploma for the profession and began her career. Wyona married at the age of 24 to Howard Pope and had children and grandchildren who she loved very passionately. She began working at a law office in Oshkosh WI, in which she remained working well into her 80’s. She proved loyal, dedicated, and devoted to the firm. Anyone that met Wyona absolutely adored her and had great respect for her. Everyone knew the pies and cakes she baked were outstanding, anything she baked really... She loved knitting and sewing as she even knitted her baby’s bonnet. She adored reading, especially John Grisham. A book was always sitting next to her at her side table. She enjoyed fishing and joined a bowling league for many years. Wyona was involved in campfire leadership and was a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She was very involved with her children and grandchildren’s activities.

Wyona was known as intelligent, kind, loyal, hardworking, loving, thoughtful, and helpful woman who deserved more than the world could offer her. The many battles she had overcome and the strength she had shown is astounding and only adds to the special lady, Wyona Joyce Pope, who will be so dearly missed.

She is Survived by three children: Diana Pope, Richard (Sue) Pope, Helen Bond ; grandchildren: Savannah Bond, Megan Pope, Aaron Pope, Charlton Pope, Alexandria Meinen; sister, Ramona Resop; and her dear friends: Helen and Allan Ader, along with several nieces and nephews.

Wyona is now reunited with her mother and father; brother, Wayne; little sister, Yvonne; her aunt, Dora Loker; and her first grandchild, Shon Potschaider.
