Anna M. Fisher, age 86, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh. She was born on April 28, 1937, in Velden, Holland to the late Antonius and Margareta (Goris) Litjens.
Anna and her oldest two brothers were born before WW II and survived being evacuated in cattle cars twice during the war. After the war, they emigrated to America and crossed the Atlantic during January of 1957 on the SS Zuiderkruis.
Anna's father, Tony, was a tailor and found a sponsor in Toledo, Ohio. On arriving to Ellis Island, the family was informed they would be going to Oshkosh, Wisconsin instead. When asked where that might be, no one seemed to know.
Anna married Fred Fisher, a North Dakota rancher, on October 26, 1973, in Lawrence, South Dakota. After a few years of marriage, he preceded her in death, and she then moved back to Oshkosh where she loved spending time with all her nieces and nephews.
Anna worked at Mercy Medical Hospital as a Nursing Assistant for 25 years. She found joy in her flower garden and knitting.
Anna is survived by her brothers: Fred “Fritz” (Betty) Litjens, Jack (Joanne Robson), John (Tina) Litjens; and sister-in-law law, Barbara Litjens. Nieces: Lisa (Greg) Spletter, Susan Litjens, Elizabeth (Michael) Rollman, Sarah Litjens, Jessica Litjens, Emily Litjens, Katherine (David) Verkler)Charlotte Litjens, Laura Litjens; and nephews: Andy, Tony, Paul, and Eric Litjens. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antonius and Margareta Litjens; spouse, Fred Fisher; brothers: Josef and Peter Litjens.
A service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 19, 2024, at Most Blessed Sacrament – St. Mary’s site, 605 Merritt Ave, Oshkosh. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:30 am until the time of service.
