Arthur “Art” Eugene Stelzner Jr. was guided home from this life into the next on June 13, 2023, which would have been his wife’s 92nd birthday. He was 94 years old. He was born on March 8, 1929, to the late Arthur Sr. and Katherine (Suess) Stelzner, he lived in Oshkosh all his life. From humble beginnings, living in a three-room house with his parents, grandparents, and four siblings, Arthur learned early the value of a dollar and how to work hard to get ahead in life. Art, along with his father Art Sr and younger brother, Donald, owned and operated Stelzner’s Mfg. Co until the passing of Art Sr. in 1987 and the death of Donald the following year. The decision was then made to sell the business and retire. During those early years of growing a business, Art learned many valuable skills that would serve him well throughout his life.
Art attended a four-room schoolhouse in “Nordheim” where he met the love of his life, Betty Wegner. He was 15 … she just 13. After graduation, the couple married, and Art began to build a house, a family, and a life which he enjoyed with Betty for over 71 years.
Arthur was a gentle man of many talents. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, square dancing, building model RC airplanes, cards, woodworking, and playing his harmonica. He was an honest businessman, a good friend and a loving father and husband.
Art is survived by his three children, Devin (Katherine) Stelzner of Mesa, AZ, Tamara (Nee Stelzner) Schuster, of Oshkosh, WI and Aaron (Jennifer) Stelzner, of Princeton, WI; grandchildren, Derek (Teresa) Schuster, of Oshkosh, WI, Joshua (Debra) Schuster, of Green Bay, WI, Brittany (Greg) Seidling, of Princeton, WI, Zachary Stelzner, of Princeton, WI, and Shannon (Damian) of Beaver Dam, WI; one great-grandchild, Avyen and one Rowan Arthur expected in September.
In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; siblings, Donald (Phyllis), Roger, and Jerome Stelzner, and Barbara “Betty Lou” Jiricka.
To honor the memory and life of Arthur, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
