Audrey E. Peppler, age 97, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at home. She was born on March 18, 1926, in Oshkosh to the late George Sullivan and Hazel (Brusius) Hedtke. She was united in marriage to Marvin L. Peppler on May 17, 1946, in Oshkosh. They shared just shy of 67 years of marriage together until his passing on May 12, 2013.
Audrey had a deep love for crafting, particularly crocheting, which she skillfully transformed into beautiful creations that brought joy to many. She also had a special bond with her loyal companion, Rusty, her beloved dog, who never left her side.
Audrey will be fondly remembered for her passion for reading, taking long walks, and maintaining a fit and active lifestyle. It always brings joy and laughter to remember the cheer they would say while stretching before a workout, “Peanuts, Popcorn, Potato Chip... this is how we got our hips! Whisky, Bourbon, Vodka, Gin... this is why we can’t keep thin!” She found solace and entertainment in watching movies, especially those on the Hallmark channel, often sharing her enthusiasm with friends and family. Audrey possessed a green thumb and spent countless hours tending to her vibrant garden, showcasing her talent for cultivating beauty from the earth.
One of Audrey's greatest passions was teaching Sunday school for 20 years at Emmanuel United Church of Christ. Her dedication to sharing the teachings of faith and guiding young minds will forever be remembered by her students and the church community.
Audrey is survived by her daughters: Cheryl Peppler, Sandra Folske; grandchildren: Tami (Luis) Ojeda, Heather (Joseph) Kotloski, Corey (Cindy) Folske; great grandchildren: Madelynn and Chloe Ojeda, Claire Goerlitz, Izabel and Ilaina Kotloski, Cailey Folske; brothers Bernie Sullivan, Brett (Sunny) Hedtke; sisters: Carol Kluth, Marlene (Al) Reisler; sisters-in-law: Pam Hedtke, Lauralee Peppler, Vivian Peppler, Barbara Cegielski; brother-in-law, James Peppler; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Peppler; father, George Sullivan; mother and stepfather, Hazel and Norman Hedtke; grandson, Scott Goerlitz; brother, Terry Hedtke; sisters-in-law: Donna Sullivan, Jean Peppler, Betty Peppler; brothers-in-law: Duane Peppler, Charles Peppler, Nathan Peppler and infant brother-in-law, Duane Peppler.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 1306 Michigan St, Oshkosh with Rev. Andi Wolf officiating. Visitation will take place at the church on Tuesday from 3:30 pm until the time of service. Innichement will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.
