Audrey June Rahn died in the early morning hours of January 3, 2022. She was 92. She spent her last days surrounded by the laughter and love of family, with whom she was “Nana” to her grandchildren and “Gigi” to her great-grandchildren.
Audrey was born Audrey June Ruddock on June 10, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Helen (nee Kamrath) and Kenneth Ruddock. On August 27, 1949, she married Warren John “Joe” Rahn, with whom she would share the next 63 years of her life.
Audrey was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she played handbells in the choir for many years. She taught knitting at Fox Valley Technical College for many years, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at Bethel Home for decades.
She enjoyed knitting beautiful, intricate sweaters for generations of her family, playing bridge and golf with friends, traveling to far-flung places, and coming back home. She took great care in her appearance, even having her ears re-pierced at Good Girl Piercing just weeks ago. It was really fun to make her laugh, and not difficult: the story of the rotund Daschshund and the tracks he made in the snow would do it.
Audrey is survived by two daughters, Deborah Laffin (nee Rahn) and Dana Muza (nee Rahn); her four grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Buehner (Jacob) Resneck, Ted (Christina) Buehner, Patrick Muza, and Sam Muza; and her four great-grandchildren, Stevie Buehner, Imogen Resneck, Ansel Resneck, and Leo Buehner.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, who died almost exactly 10 years to the day of her own death.
A celebration of her life is being planned for spring 2022 in Oshkosh, where she spent most of her life.
A memorial has been established in support of rescue dogs. Please contact for more information.
The family would like to thank the staff on 2 North at Aurora Medical Center for their kindness and care over the cold, quiet holiday weekend when Audrey left. She is and will be greatly missed.
