Benjamin Charles Gawaresky

Benjamin Charles Gawaresky Jr., age 73, of Oshkosh, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center. He was born on August 13, 1947 in Oshkosh, a son of Benjamin and Margaret Spanbauer Gawaresky. On July 9, 1977 he married Linda Lancour in Oshkosh.
During his younger days, Ben obtained his barber license and worked with his father at Ben’s Barbershop on Washington Ave. He then began a long career as a Service Director at several auto dealers including Gibsons, Bergstrom’s, Pommerening, and finally West Side Garage. On many Friday’s after the work day was over, Ben would announce “shop cleanup time!!” He would then give free haircuts to his Technicians. Through his job, he was able to serve as President of the Service Manager’s club as well as other positions in Chevrolet groups. Ben also taught “Small Engine Repair” evening classes for several years at the Appleton FVTC. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, working on vehicles with his sons, watching both of his sons race, spending time with his grandchildren, snowmobiling, drag racing himself in his younger years, and going for rides in his 1962 Chevy Impala with his family. He was well known for his diagnosis of car issues and would often field calls from people with questions from many dealerships across Wisconsin. Ben was known to be the kindest, caring, honest man you ever met. His love for his wife and sons and grandchildren was beyond measure and he will be missed by many.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Linda Gawaresky, two sons David Gawaresky, Steven (Rochelle) Gawaresky, his grandchildren Brady, Vincent, Ryder, and baby girl Gawaresky due in April. He is furthered survived by many friends that have treasured his friendship over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday January 2, 2021 from 1-4 p.m. at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-Westside. Masks will be required, and the family requests social distancing be observed. Private graveside services will be held.
A memorial fund has been established.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at Park View Health Center, especially the activities director Tim, as well as the Oshkosh Fire Department, and the staff at Mercy Medical Center that cared for him during his final days.
