Oshkosh

Betty Jane (BJ) Schlundt (Wild), age 85, of Oshkosh, formerly of Antigo, passed away on May 6, 2024 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, WI. She lived a good, long life and was loved by many. She was born on July 14, 1938 in Antigo, WI to the late Wolfgang and Elizabeth Wild. It was in Antigo where she met the love of her life, Jim Schlundt (aka Raisins / James Edward). She was always a hard worker… she got her first job as a teenager at the Palace Theater in Antigo which she loved because she got extra spending money to buy her own clothes. She also worked at the Kraft Plant in Antigo. Jim and Betty got married in 1956 and had their twins, Margie and Jamie, in Antigo. A few years later, they moved to Oshkosh, WI due to her husband’s new job at Winnebago Mental Health Institute. Their second daughter, Karrie, was born shortly after they arrived in Oshkosh. Jim and Betty lived the rest of their lives in Oshkosh. She worked at Miles Kimball for many years and absolutely loved going to their end of year sales. She also worked for years at the Budgetel Hotel and finally retired after working 25 years at Evergreen Retirement Community.

During her free time, Betty loved going to rummage sales and thrifting with Jim. She was a major Green Bay Packer fan and cheered them on every week. She also loved camping every summer and enjoying festivals in Door County and Wisconsin Dells. She and Jimmy spent one month every year for 15 consecutive years going to Daytona Beach Shores to spend their retirement vacation. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and she loved baking during that time. We’ll forever miss her fudge and famous peanut butter balls. In addition, she truly enjoyed spending quality time with her 3 grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.

Betty is survived by her sister Rosie Forshay (Wild) in San Antonio, TX, her daughters, Margie Rohde (Schlundt) of Waupaca, WI, Karrie Schlundt of Lake Mary, FL, her grandchildren, Brandon Rohde of Ogdensburg, WI, Tyler Rohde of Scandinavia, WI, Natalia Sepulveda (Arden) of Orlando, FL and her great-granddaughter Nevaeh Rohde of Scandinavia, WI, her son-in-law Ruben Sepulveda of Lake Mary, FL and her sister from another mother, Judy Zachmeyer (Kollas) of Wausau, Wi.

Preceeding her in death was her son Jamie Schlundt who died shortly after birth, her husband, James Schlundt, her parents Wolfgang and Elizabeth Wild (Fleischmann), her brother Wilfred Wild, her brother-in-law Bill Forshay, her sister-in-law Nell Goad, her nephew Todd Forshay and her grandson Justin Rohde.

The family would like to extend a big thank you to all the people who helped Betty over the years as she grew older and needed extra help: her neighbors Andy and Miyoko, and her special friends Sandy, Kelly and Sherry. They are so grateful for all that was done for her over the years.

There will be a private celebration of life with her immediate family. Anyone wishing to reach out can do so at her address.
