Betty Lou Ploetz, age 82 of Oshkosh, passed away at her residence on Sunday, November 2, 2025. She was born on November 1, 1943, in Waupaca to the late Earl and Rose (Roberts) Nicolaisen. Betty was united in marriage to Steven Ploetz on September 7, 1963 and together they raised two sons.
A true social butterfly, Betty found joy in bringing people together. She loved entertaining and was often the life of the party. Her spirit will be remembered fondly during gatherings with friends and family, where a crisp glass of Tanqueray Gin was always in hand.
Betty cherished her adventures, whether it was fishing in serene waters, traveling to the Caribbean with her beloved travel partner Sandy Galica, or embarking on casino excursions with her dear friend Lola Krebsbach. She also cherished visiting her favorite restaurants alongside her partner in crime, Gloria Duly. In her earlier years, she enjoyed the camaraderie of her ladies’ trap team at the 4th Street Gun Club. Amid her many joys, Betty had a special bond with her feathered companions, Cookie and Frosty.
Betty is lovingly survived by her husband, Steven Ploetz; sons, Steven (Dena) Ploetz and Scott (Nicole) Ploetz; grandchildren, Kyle, Taylor, Madison, Chelsea, Samantha, Alex, Gessica, Nicolas, Noah and Elijah; great-grandchildren, Madeline, AJ, Theo, Oliver, Stella and Wrylan; brother, Earl Nicolaisen; sister-in-law, Joan Werner. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Stahl; sister-in-law, Shirley Nicolaisen.
