Brian “Book” Munsch passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in Oshkosh, WI, at the age of 56. The son of Melvyn “Mike” and Karen Munsch, he was born in Oshkosh on July 3, 1969. After graduating from Winnebago Lutheran Academy in 1987, he attended technical college before pursuing a career of service, protecting his community as an Oshkosh Police Department officer for nearly 30 years. Brian married the love of his life on September 14, 1996, and in the following years they welcomed their three children, whom they raised to value community, kindness, and family.
In life, Brian was an avid bowler who spent much of his free time at the various bowling centers around the Fox Valley area. His family remembers him as a loyal Packers fan, an Elvis admirer, and a dad-joke enthusiast. When he wasn’t at the lanes, he could be found playing cards with his family and friends or watching and quoting his favorite shows. Brian enjoyed spending time in Florida and going on Disney vacations with his family. He also loved grilling with his dad and creating new food pairings for his family to try. He had a deep love for those in his community and would try to help anyone around him any chance he could.
Brian is survived by his wife of 29 years, Wendi (Nelson) Munsch; his children, Carlin (Haley) Munsch, Benjamin Harbor, and Preston Munsch; his grandchildren, Declan and Asher Munsch; his mother, Karen Munsch; his mother-in-law, Judy Nelson; and his siblings, Lori (Mike) Pulvermacher and Mark Munsch. He was welcomed into Heaven by his father, Melvyn “Mike” Munsch; his grandparents Pete and Fran Stueber, and Harold and Irma Munsch; and his aunts, Carol Munsch, Sally Stueber, and Cherie Stueber. There to greet him in Heaven as well were Elaine and Ray Pelky, Aunt Eleanor Kellerman, and sweet little Ellie Valdez.
Cremation will take place, and the family is grateful for the assistance of Konrad-Behlman Funeral Homes so they can bring Brian home to rest forever in the hearts of his loved ones. A special thank you to all friends and family for the love and support shown, and to the caring and patient staff at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee and Aurora Hospital Oshkosh, who helped Brian and the family find peace and comfort during this time.
