Byron Draeger

March 20, 1925 — January 23, 2026

I go the way of all the earth. In Adam all die. In Christ Jesus all are made alive.

In the name of the Father, Son- Jesus Christ, and Holy Ghost. I thank God for the life and family He has given me. Born March 20, 1925, to Herman and Clara (Klawitter) Draeger in the Township of Monello WI. Baptized, confirmed graduated from St. John Church School Montello WI, went to Montello High. Passed on to Eternal Life January 23, 2025. Thanks to Jesus Christ for ALL of the people who helped me unto GOD!

After leaving school I worked on a farm until I was married to Marilyn Abraham September 9, 1950. I worked as a plasterer for Grunske and then retired in 1988 from 1st National Bank (now US Bank) maintenance department. Marilyn and I were blessed with 2 children Carl (Mary) Draeger and Loretta Bunke. 4 Grandchildren Brannon Bunke (deceased), Brielle (Jamie) Meisel, Sarah (Jason) Wenzel, Douglas (Carly) Draeger. Great-grandchildren Abby Paque, Evan Paque, Tyler Wenzel, Bentley Wenzel, JJ Wenzel, Emerie Draeger, Kallie Wenzel, Berklee Draeger.

Into Thy Hands, Jesus Christ, I commend my spirit: in His Blood and Righteousness unto Holiness. Born March 20, 1925, through eternity. Lived to Glorify and Praise God the Father in the Spirit through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Dad was a humble man. Strong in his faith. He wasn't ashamed of the Gospel and shared it with anyone he had a conversation with. He told us his mother would read the bible to him and his siblings (Vivian, John, Dorothy and Bob) every day. The family went by horse and buggy to church on Sunday. When his mother became ill with TB and was confined to a sanitarium, his father was unable to take care of 5 children under 10 and farmed the land so at age 5 he went to the Lutheran Children's Home in Wauwatosa until age 12 before returning to live with his mother in Montello. He also credits the children's home for his faith. There were morning and evening devotions and prayers at meals and bedtime. Until the end he recited the lyrics of songs learned at an early age. He also quoted Scripture, Hymns, and the Catechism daily. In our morning phone conversations he would often begin the call with a verse or two from a hymn that came to mind when he woke up that morning. He served Trinity Lutheran Church for many years on the Board of Trustees, as a Deacon, and as an Elder until he could no longer physically do it. Then he continued to serve as a prayer warrior for all until the end. We were blessed to have him as our father; his life was a pattern of living as a Christian. He set a good example for us to follow.
