Christine "Chris" Berger, age 74, of Oshkosh, WI, passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. Chris was born on June 2,1951, in Oshkosh, to Anthony and Elaine (Schmidt) Neubauer.
Christine married Kurt F. Berger on May 5, 1971, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Together, Kurt and Chris had two daughters, Laura A. (Michael) Kroll and Andrea L. Teschendorf. She was a proud grandmother to three grandsons: Kurt M. (Laura M.) Kroll, Alex J. Kroll (fiancée Allison "Allie"), and James A. Teschendorf.
Chris graduated from Lourdes High School in 1969. She began her career with Wisconsin Bell as a telephone operator and later worked as a dispatcher for AT&T. After a 30-year career at the "phone company," Chris was fortunate to retire at a young age.
Chris lived life to the fullest. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was always the first person to be there for anyone at any time. Chris belonged to many social clubs and enjoyed traveling, exploring many different states and countries.
Camping, boating, hunting, fishing, and motorcycling were among her favorite hobbies. She also enjoyed attending music festivals, concerts, plays, and musicals. Chris was an avid sports fan who loved watching the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR. A gambler at heart, she was quick to buy a football square or pick a driver to win the race. She also loved playing cards and participated in-and won-many cribbage tournaments.
Everyone loved and will miss Chris.
Chris is survived by her sisters, Cynthia (Michael) Scherck and Susan (Thomas) Schertz; her significant other, Thomas Praxl; brothers-in-law Eric (Kathy) Berger, William (Mary) Berger, and Lawrence Berger; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kurt, on December 6, 1996.
Chris was a member of St. Jude Parish (St. Vincent Catholic Church) in Oshkosh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Parish, St. Vincent Catholic Church, located at the corner of Oregon Street and West South Park Avenue in Oshkosh.
