It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene Lyness on June 1, 2025, at Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Born at home on March 10, 1940, in the Town of Helvetia, Waupaca County, Darlene was the beloved daughter of the late Elmer and Irma (Dorow) Prellwitz.
Darlene Retired from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 1997. She also contributed her time by working part-time at J & T Services of NFDL.
On February 27, 1960, Darlene married Kenneth G. Lyness, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Darlene enjoyed bowling, crafting, and embarking on adventures to Las Vegas and the various casinos throughout Wisconsin.
Darlene was a devoted member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Nekimi.
She is survived by four daughters, Cindy Verzal of Oshkosh, Kim (Dave) Butz of Fond Du Lac, Vickie (Thomas) Michels of Van Dyne, Cathy Jupp (Peter) of Iola; 12 grandchildren, Nicholas Braasch, Matt (Laura) Braasch, Emily (Tyler-friend) Braasch, Jeffery Pfeiffer, Nicole (Jacob) Frey, William Pfeiffer Tory Busch (Russell), Stephanie (Ryan) Lueck, Amanda (Eric) Kraus, Chris (Elyse) Michels, Betsy (Chris) Fischer, Amber (Tom) Lichtensteiger; 15 great-grandchildren, Beau, Brooklyn, Jeffery Jr, Jackson, Mason, Taylor, Wyatt, Brinley, Austin, Raeann, Riley, Peyton, Bruce, Charlotte, Sophia, Chloe and Scarlett; one sister, Nancy (Roger) Wolf; two sisters-in-law, Judy Schultz and Marcia Galicia; along with several nieces and nephews.
Darlene is preceded in death by her husband, parents; in-laws, Ray and Ruby Lyness; two brothers, Lester (Trudy) and LeRoy Prellwitz; sister, Arvilla (Andy) Andreson; grandson, Bill Pfeiffer; two brothers-in-law, Don Schultz and Tom Galicia.
A visitation for Darlene will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 9:00 am, at St. John's Lutheran Church of Nekimi, 491 Old Oregon Rd, Oshkosh, until the start of the funeral service at 11:00 am.
Interment at St. John's Lutheran of Nekimi Cemetery will follow.
Memorials are being established in Darlene's name.
