Darlene Ann Wilber, age 82, a deeply kind and selfless soul, passed away at Eden Vista in Oshkosh on the morning of Sunday, April 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of quiet generosity, unwavering love, and a life devoted to others. She was born to the late Clarence and Edna (Hackbarth) Spiering on September 6, 1943, in Oshkosh and married her husband, Roger Wilber on July 17, 1965 at St John’s Lutheran Church, Nekimi.
Darlene made every holiday special with hours spent cooking and baking in the kitchen, with cheesecake becoming a family favorite. Her creative abilities were found in her joy of gardening, crafting, and sewing her children’s and grandchildren’s holiday clothing.
In addition to her devotion at home, she dedicated over 40 years as a secretary for the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh until her retirement on July 6, 2004.
Darlene is survived by her daughter Lisa (Robert) Convery; daughter-in-law, Connie Wilber; grandchildren, Brooke (Daniel) DeRoo, Keegan Wilber(Holly Carlson), Lacie (Cody) Marhefke; great grandchildren, Peighton, Jennsen, Logan, Maverick, Leeanna, Jameson, Briggs and Mason; sister, Shirley Potratz; sister-in-law, Beverly Wilber; brother-in-law, Lee Schuhart, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; son, James; as well as her siblings, Howard, Betty, and Sharon.
A funeral service for Darlene will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Nekimi, 491 Old Oregon Rd. Oshkosh, WI 54902 on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Eden Vista-Oshkosh and Preceptor Home Health & Hospice for their kindness, compassion and dedicated care.
