Donald Walter Schroeder

Donald W. Schroeder, age 94, passed away peacefully at Ascension Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 18, 2026. He was born to the late Walter and Elizabeth (Kirschling) Schroeder on January 29, 1932, in Oshkosh, WI. Don married Arlene Radloff on May 1st, 1954. Together they had two sons and shared their lives until Arlene's passing in 2008. Don later found love again with Barbara Dumke. They were married on August 8, 2009, and spent 16 wonderful years together.

Don was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War and dutifully served his country. Following his time in the Army and after marrying Arlene, he worked for a small company called Badger Mill Supply. He purchased the company in 1975. Don began to expand the business by purchasing and building two facilities, as well as securing contracts in the government and medical industries, growing the company into the distribution/MRO company it is today.

He was on several local boards in the Oshkosh area including, Bank One/ Firstar Banks as well as an official of the Oshkosh Elks Club; an avid golfer, he was a member of the Oshkosh Country Club and the Forrest Country Club in Fort Meyers, FL. He loved playing cards and was a phenomenal Gin player. Don and Barbara were avid Green Bay Packer Fans; looking forward to every Sunday afternoon to see the Players take the Field.

Don is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Steven (Debra) & Larry (Sandy); grandchildren Brian (Richelle) Schroeder, Stephanie (Tyson) Choate, Lindsay (Paul) Kieckhafer, and Leslie (Alex) LaRoux; great-grandchildren, Marlie, Logan, Liam, Ashlyn, Ryan, and then a great-grandson on the way. He is further survived by Barbara's children, Art (Beth), Amy (Tim), and Andy (Allison) as well as their children.

In addition to his parents and Arlene, Don was preceded in death by his siblings, Lyle (Sheryl) Schroeder and Carol (Arthur) Schneider.

A memorial mass will take place at St. Raphael (830 S. Westhaven Dr) on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 11AM. A time of visitation will be held from 9AM until the time of mass. A burial will take place at Lake View Memorial Park.

Being an Oshkosh Native, giving to many local charities in Oshkosh was very important throughout Don's life.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in his name to be distributed throughout many of Don's favorite charities.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ascension Mercy Hospital and Evergreen/Sharehaven for the loving care they gave him.
