Donald J. Schumacher, age 97, of Oshkosh, WI, passed away on September 6, 2025, at Gabriel's Villa. Don was born on May 23, 1928, son of the late Emil and Lucille (Okrueg) Schumacher, in Oshkosh.

Don was a lifelong resident of Oshkosh who worked as a custodian in the Oshkosh School System and before that, he worked at Chief Oshkosh Brewery Co. He proudly enlisted and served his country in the Army for three years during the Korea War.

His hobbies were working outside in his greenhouse, planting his garden and flower beds. He was always building something or working on cars.

Don is survived by his wife, Verna (Freeman) Schumacher; son, Don (Annette) Schumacher of Missoula, MT; grandson, Ryan (Jess) Schumacher of Missoula, MT with great grandchildren Sloane and Tommy; granddaughter, Kayla (Matt) Van Lieshout of Fall City, WA with great grandson Anton; stepson, Steve Freeman of Oshkosh, WI.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Emil K. and Lucille S. Schumacher; sister, Beverly J. Troudt and stepbrother Russel Felbob.

A funeral service for Don will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at 12:00 pm at The Lake View Memorial Park Chapel, 2786 Algoma Blvd, Oshkosh. Visitation time will be begin at 11:00 am and continue until the start of the service. Entombment will take place at a later date at Lake View Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend gratitude to Renee McCann, all care givers at Gabriel's Villa, and the Generations Hospice team for all there loving care and support.
