Edeltraut (Zedler) Gabriel, age 89, of Oshkosh, WI, went to eternal peace on May 12, 2025.
She was born in Faulen-Rosenberg, Germany to Max and Gertrude (Schonschek) Zedler on May 22, 1935.
Traute and her family were sponsored by Franz Boschwitz to come over to the United States in 1951 and she became a US Citizen in 1959.
In 1954 she married Heinz Gabriel. They were married for 65 years until Heinz's passing. Together they had five children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom they were very proud of.
Family and faith were very important to Traute. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir for a number of years. She also was a pretty good bowler in her days where she and Heinz met so many wonderful friends. She made some of the best German food and desserts, she loved to sew, knit and crochet. She even knit barbie doll clothes for her girls and made sure to crochet each member of her family a beautiful afghan.
Traute was a big sports fan and loved watching her Packers, Brewers, Badgers and the US and Germany Soccer games. She actually thought she was a coach at times yelling at the TV! She loved nothing more than going to watch her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren's sporting events, dance competitions, and recitals.
She is survived by her son, Ralph (Pearl) Gabriel; her three daughters, Karen Tiffany, Heidi (Andy) Turner, Linda (David) Kollmann; her eight grandchildren, Kirk (Stephanie) Tiffany, Matthew (Christal) Gabriel, Ryan Gabriel, David (Megan) Chivington, Scott (Wakenya) Tiffany, Michael (Morgan) Chivington, Jordan (Emily) Kollmann, Hannah (Mo) Kollmann; her seventeen great-grandchildren, Reese, Leah, Abigail, Mackenzie, Payton, Wren, Olivia, Isabelle, Junior, Aston, Cienna, Vincent, Subira, Finley, Duncan, Marigold and Chloe; her great great-grandchild, Gwen; her sister-in-law, Diane Zedler; her sister and brothers-in-law, Anneliesa and Rudolf Hagemann; her sister-in-law, Traudl Gabriel; and special friend, Cassie Novotny.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Heinz K. Gabriel; her son, Dieter W. Gabriel; her grandson, Sean David Kollmann; her parents, Max and Gertrude Zedler; her brother, Gunter Zedler; her in-laws, Karl F. and Erna Gabriel; her brother-in-law, Kurt H. Gabriel; her grandson Ryan's late wife, Breckan Gabriel.
The family would like to thank the staff at Theda Clark Hospital and Theda Care Hospice for taking such compassionate care of our mother. We would also like to thank Dr. Benjamin Heinzen and Sara Kolell-NP from Ascension and Paster Jeffrey Knoll of Zion Lutheran Church for their kindness and care they have always given and shown our mother.
A private family service will be held.
