Elaine E. Clapper

Elaine E. Clapper, age 90, formerly of Lockport, Illinois, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Aspire Senior Living in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Elaine was born on June 21, 1934, in Berwyn, IL, daughter of Harry and Lena (Gronewold) Boness. She was an executive secretary at Argonne National Laboratory and later at Kinetic Systems. She was married to Walter Clapper, who passed away in 2007 after 47 years of marriage.

Elaine enjoyed many things in her lifetime including sewing, playing piano and organ, singing and directing the church choir and having the love for classical music. Upon retirement, Elaine and Walt shared a passion for genealogy, biking the Illinois trails as well as taking bike trips through Europe. She also took great pride in keeping her yard immaculate.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Lena (Gronewold) Boness and husband Walter Clapper.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Jim) Petersen of Oshkosh, WI, son, Scott (Laura) Clapper of West Chicago, IL; grandchildren Eric Petersen, Emily Petersen and McKenna Clapper and step-grandson Matthias Meszaros.

Interment will be held at Claredon Hills Cemetery in Darien, IL, at a later date.
