Elsie Viera Dudal

February 17, 1919 — September 17, 2015

Elsie Viera Dudal, age 96, passed away on September 17, 2015 at Aurora Hospital. Elsie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Phebe Viera. She was born on February 17, 1919 in New Bedford, Ma. During the Second World War, Elsie was employed for three years with Morse Twist Drill Co. in New Bedford, where she made drill bits for the war effort. Afterwards she worked in Florida at McCorys Five and Dime Store, where she met the love of her life Henry. Elsie and Henry married on July 4, 1947 in Valdosta, Georgia. Elsie enjoyed sewing and knitting; she capably made clothing for her children, afghans for her grandkids, and skull caps for soldiers during the Iraqi war. She also loved reading, especially mystery novels that were always read to the end.Elsie is survived by her daughter, Madeleine Madge (Greg) Malchow of Oshkosh; step-daughter, Irene (Jorge) Acosta, of Oviedo, FL; sisters: Dorothy Hubbard and Edythe (Ed) Johnson; grandchildren: Tamara (Brandon) Jockman, Brian (Karen) Malchow, Joseph (Nicole) Malchow, Donald Acosta, Eugenie Acosta, Keith (Laura) Acosta, Elana (Dominic) Antinello, Russell (Tina) Stevens, Ricky Stevens, Ronald Stevens, and Christin Wells; great grandchildren: Andrew and Abigail Malchow, and Gabriella Jockman. She is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.Elsie was preceded in death by the love of her life Henry; step-son, Richard Stevens; granddaughter, Cynthia Bracher; and sisters: Irene Viera, Clara Simpson, and Hazel Leslie.Services for Elsie will be held at 10:30AM on Monday, September 21, 2015 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Westside. Fr. Edward Looney will be officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.The family wishes to express a special thanks to Dr.s Ammar Alzoubi and Corey Hanes and staff, Aurora ICU nurses, Aurora Hospice staff and Bethel Home staff for their compassionate care toward mom.
