Eugene Daniel Stampfli, 90, passed away Thursday March 12, 2026 at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 6, 1935 to the late Herman and Edith (Kundert) Stampfli in Janesville, WI. Gene married Karen Mae Briggs on August 4, 1956 in Monroe. They had two children, Deb Stampfli (Port Washington) and Bill (Ronni) Stampfli (Oshkosh).
Gene grew up in a cheese factory and went to Atwood School in Brodhead, WI. He served in the Army National Guard, farmed and drove truck before starting his 30 year career at GM in Janesville. He retired in 1996.
Eugene was proud of his Swiss heritage and took many trips to Switzerland. He loved fishing and hunting in his younger days. He was very proud of his 6 granddaughters and 13 great grandchildren. He loved talking about them, oftentimes with tears in his eyes, to anyone who would listen.
Gene is survived by his wife of 69 years, Karen; children, Deb and Bill (Ronni) Stampfli; 6 granddaughters, Brittany (Dustin) Lobner, Kelsey (Joe) Klohn, Ashley (Luke) Straveler, Ronessa Stampfli, Kayla (Ryan) Gauld and Erika Stampfli; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers Tony and Fred; sisters, Kathleen and Phyllis.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brothers, Victor, Herman and Daniel.
Per Gene's wishes, a cremation has taken place and there will be no service held.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Parkview Health Center for their exceptional care, with a very heartfelt thank you to the staff on Lakeside One. Thank you, also, to Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home for their services.
