Eugene Thomas Troxell

October 10, 1928 — August 4, 2023

Eugene T. Troxell, age 94, died on August 4, 2023. He was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on October 10, 1928 to Ann Troxell Voelker. On December 27, 1947 he married Helen V. Troxell at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Oshkosh. They enjoyed 74 years of marriage together prior to her death in 2022.

Gene proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1947 to 1950, stationed in Denver, CO. After returning to Oshkosh, he worked primarily in the auto parts industry and provided accounting services for Troxell Electric. He had an entrepreneurial spirit and participated in a number of business ventures.

He was very active in his church, community, and local government, serving as a Winnebago County Board Supervisor from 1984 to 2000, winning several district elections. As part of his service on the Winnebago County Board, he was a member of the Aviation Committee.

Gene loved fishing, cooking and preserving food, dancing, gardening, hosting parties, golfing, traveling, spending winters in Phoenix, AZ, working hard, and assisting anyone who needed a helping hand. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and taught them to enjoy life and be adventuresome. He was fun-loving, gregarious, and made sure that every woman he met received a hug from him.

Gene is survived by his children Gary Troxell and Tina Troxell Williamson, his grandchildren Laura (Jesse) Laster and John (Daria Potapova) Troxell, great grandchildren Matthew and Kate Laster, brothers and sisters Jerry Voelker, Tom Voelker, Sharon (Tom) Weisheipl and Connie (Dave) Stelsel. All of his family will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, his mother Ann, his brother Ray, his sister Mary Jane, his daughter-in-law Sarah Troxell and son-in-law Jim Williamson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday August 16 at 10:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, St. Vincent's site. Visitation will precede the Mass, beginning at 8:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church and Lourdes Academy.

Gene's family would like to sincerely thank Moments Hospice and the amazing staff at Gabriel's Villa for their loving and compassionate care of him in his last days.
