🕊️ In Loving Memory of George H. Grothpietz
November 15, 1940 - October 26, 2025
George H. Grothpietz, age 84, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, at Bethel Home, surrounded by his family. For 15 years, George lived with Parkinson's disease, yet his spirit remained undimmed - his ready smile and quick wit continued to brighten the lives of those around him.
Born in Des Plaines, Illinois, George was the son of the late George and Alma (Lemke) Grothpietz. He grew up in Glenview, Illinois, graduated from Glenbrook North High School, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for a brief time. As a young man, he spent countless hours at the neighborhood ball diamond and helped his parents run their auto parts store and bicycle shop.
George earned a degree in Business and, in May 1971, married the love of his life, Susan M. Chalberg, in Evanston, Illinois. A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, George held season tickets and cherished taking his younger brother Ron to games. He also cheered for the Chicago Bears with equal enthusiasm.
In 1980, George moved his family to Wisconsin, where he found his greatest joy in being a devoted father and grandpa. He loved taking his daughters and grandchildren to parks, supporting their education and life milestones, and enjoying a meal out with them. Known for his easy-going nature and big smile, George had a gift for making others feel welcome and loved.
