George Roger Berrell

George R. "Buzz" BerrellOf Mequon, WI, formerly of Oshkosh and Washington Island. Entered eternal life on December 31, 2015 George was born in Oshkosh on November 16, 1937 to George R. Berrell and Emma (Nachtmann) Berrell, now deceased. Loving father of Elizabeth Strong of Chicago, Andrew (Ricki) Berrell ofRhinelander, Leslie (John) Stephany of Fond du Lac. Proud grandfatherof Nick, Zak, Alex, A.J., Lindsay, Katie, Josh and Cassie. Deeply loved and missed by longtime partner Donna (Ryan, Meghan, and Oona) Daniels of Mequon. Further survived by his sister Shirley (Gene) Schmiedel, and brother Bruce (Carla) Berrell, both of Oshkosh.George attended Sacred Heart grade school and Oshkosh High School. He was an outstanding athlete excelling in both boxing and baseball. George was a third baseman for the Oshkosh American Legion Team which won the national softball championship an unprecedented three years in a row; 1953-55. George was drafted by the St Louis Cardinals and he played for their farm club in Ardmore, OK. An injury prompted him to use his signing bonus of $350 and enroll at the Univerity of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, where he subsequently graduated with a degree in Business.George was hired by the Hoffmaster Paper Company of Oshkosh, where he spent most of his working life, beginning as a sales representative and retiring as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He valued the many enduring friendships with the folks he met and worked with through the years. George was an avid outdoorsman with a great love and respect for the beauty and bounty that nature provides and greatly enjoyed these activities with a life long close circle of friends not only at the Winneconne Gun Club and his home on Washington Island, but also at their "shacks" - Cabin North in Hayward, WI. Cabin Reel North in Canada and Rabbit Point, Detroit Island, WI. He was a member of Milwaukee Elks Lodge#46A celebration of George's remarkable life will be held Thursday, January14 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (100 Lakepoint Drive, Oshkosh, WI) from4:00 to 6:00 pm, memorial service at 6:00 pm. Fellowship and refreshments to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Michael J Fox Parkinson's Foundation for Research is appreciated.A thank you to the medical personnel at Aurora Medical Center, Grafton; Aurora Clinic, Mequon, and the Aurora at Home Hospice staff for their incredible care and compassion
