Jerry received his B.S. degree from Wisconsin State College Oshkosh in 1957 with a major in chemistry. He was united in marriage to Marlene Hoverson at the Emanuel E.U.B. Church in Two Rivers on August 10, 1963. They moved to Denver, where he earned a M.S. degree in Library Science. The couple relocated to Oshkosh in 1965, where he began work at the Wisconsin State University-Oshkosh Polk Library. Along with teaching classes, he led the Government Documents division of the library for many years until his retirement from UW-Oshkosh in 1998. For the past 15 years, he and Marlene resided at Evergreen.

Jerry was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Oshkosh, and served on the trustees, mission, memorial, worship, and membership care committees. He also was a longtime member of the Oshkosh Southwest Rotary Club where he served as club secretary for nearly 20 years.

Jerry enjoyed traveling, genealogy, lifelong learning, watching classic movies and following his beloved Titans, Brewers, Bucks, Badgers and Packers.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, Mark (Maureen) Krueger of Brown Deer and Todd (Michael Howard) of Baltimore, Maryland; his sisters, Jean Tippey and Judy Krueger of Mequon, and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Oscar and Dorothy Hoverson, and his brother-in-law, Richard Tippey.
