Gerald Lee Miller, 91, of Van Dyne, died on November 28, 2025. He was the son of the late Myron and Irene (Schroeder) Miller, born May 14, 1934 in Waupaca. He graduated from Goodrich High School in 1952. He joined the U.S. Naval Reserve on August 4, 1952 and served diligently for 36 years, retiring in 1988 as a Chief Engineman.
He married Sheila Wendt, daughter of Harold and Ruth Wendt, in 1953 at the Martin Luther Church parsonage. Their union was blessed with 7 children, 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Their five surviving children are Gerald Jr. (Pam), Freedom; Richard (Molly), Oshkosh; Susan Lewis, Chesapeake, VA; Roger, Las Vegas, NV; and Cindy (Joe) Milgram, Pewaukee. He is further survived by his sisters, Janice and Joyce Miller, Arlene (Al) Wesenberg and brother, Howard (Jane), and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his wife Sheila, siblings Russell and Linda, sons Ronald and Robert, and grandson Michael.
A funeral service will be held at Martin Luther Evangelical Church (1526 Algoma Blvd.) on December 5, 2025 starting at 1 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Employee Appreciation Fund at Evergreen Retirement Community at EvergreenOshkosh.com/donate.
