Gertrude Myrtle Herzig, 88 of Oshkosh, died at Park View Health Center on Saturday November 5, 2005. She was born in Waubun, MN. on January 12, 1917, a daughter of Albert and Mable Selleck Sitte. She met Leonard J. Herzig Sr. at a Conservation Corps Camp in Hayward, WI, and they were united in marriage on July 15, 1939 in Oshkosh. Leonard preceded her in death on June 17, 1998.Gertrude was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time at her cabin.Survivors include two sons, Leonard Sonny (Lynda) Herzig Jr., Oshkosh; James (Peggy) Herzig, Oshkosh; three daughters, Barbara (Donald Bud) Luedtke, Oshkosh; Jean (Richard) Graebel, Stevensville, MI; Janice (Paul) Villwock, Oshkosh; one brother, Robert (Faith) Sitte, Winter, WI; 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one sister, Goldie Howard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Catholic Church on Wednesday, Nov.9, 2005 at 10:30 AM with Fr. Robert Kollath officiating. Family and friends may call at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home- Eastside, on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday at the Church from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Park. A memorial has been established.Special thanks to Faye Thys and Charlotte Villwock.
