Gilda Gladys Wegner, 85, of Oshkosh (formerly of Van Dyne), passed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Oakwood Manor, Oshkosh.
She was born on August 17, 1940, in Markesan, WI, a twin daughter of Edward and Helen (Kantorowicz) Draeger. Gilda was baptized at St John’s Lutheran, Markesan, WI, and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran, Fond du Lac, WI. On April 18, 1959, she married Roger C. Wegner at St. Peter’s Lutheran, FDL. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2011.
Gilda served her Lord as a member of Zion Lutheran, Van Dyne, St Paul’s Lutheran, North Fond du Lac, and recently Grace Lutheran, Oshkosh. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid at Van Dyne and NFDL. She was a 1958 graduate of Winnebago Lutheran Academy. She attended monthly gatherings until recently with many of her high school classmates. She enjoyed hosting and attending weekly coffee with friends in her condo association.
Following high school, she worked at Glasow & Lietman Jewelers, FDL, and Tupperware Home Party Sales, Oshkosh. She worked at Walmart, FDL, for over 25 years, retiring in 2014. She helped her husband on the family farm in Van Dyne until his death. She later moved to Oshkosh in 2018.
She is survived by her children: Jeffrey of Sun City, AZ, Tamara (Scott) Monroe of Waukesha and Amy (Randy) Montgomery of Oshkosh; three grandchildren: Stephen (Christine) Monroe of Sun Prairie, Thomas (Rebecca) Monroe of Hartland and Rachel (Alex) Mielke of Watertown, SD; six great-grandchildren: Micah Monroe, Jonah Monroe, Ellie Monroe, Marcus Monroe, Maya Mielke and Kayla Monroe; a twin sister Gladys Rohde, Waupun and special friend Larry Kind, Oshkosh.
Gilda loved her family as they loved her. She liked playing cards, especially sheepshead with family, friends and neighbors. While living on the farm in Van Dyne, she enjoyed her large gardens as well as canning, cooking, and baking. Over the years, she took over 15 trips with Tom’s Christian Tours.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger, her parents, Edward and Helen Draeger and four siblings: Edward (Mildred) Draeger, Irene (Joseph) Trempala, Marian (Paul) Kaat, Arden (Patsy) Draeger and brother-in-law, Earl Rohde.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 26 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, 913 Nebraska St., Oshkosh. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am with the Rev. Colin Rieke officiating. Burial will take place in Estabrook Cemetery, FDL.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be sent to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Oshkosh, or Winnebago Lutheran Academy, FDL.
The family thanks the staff at Oakwood Manor for their excellent love and care.
