Helen V. Troxell, age 92, died on March 4, 2022. She was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on April 6, 1929 to Aloys and Maria (Obersteiner) Hollaus. On December 27, 1947 she married Eugene Troxell at St. Vincent's Catholic church in Oshkosh.
Helen worked several jobs in the early years of her marriage in Denver, Colorado, then proudly and capably assisted many service members working at the Winnebago County Veterans Service Office for nearly 30 years. After retirement she enjoyed sharing her love of fashion working (and shopping) at Poppi's in Oshkosh. Helen volunteered at Mercy Hospital as a Gray Lady in the 1960's and at Mercy Medical Center in the rehabilitation department for many years. She also was active in her church.
Helen loved traveling, reading, and shopping. She took great pride in taking care of herself, and anyone will tell you that she always looked like a million bucks! But most of all she loved and cherished her family.
She is survived by and will be lovingly missed by her husband of 74 years, Gene, her children Gary Troxell and Tina Troxell-Williamson, her grandchildren Laura (Jesse) Laster and John (Daria) Troxell, and her greatgrandchildren Matthew and Kate Laster. She shared a special birthday with Matthew, as he was born on her 80th birthday! She is further survived by her very special nieces, nephews and many friends. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and a brother, her daughter-in-law Sarah Troxell and son-in-law Jim Williamson.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday March 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, St. Vincent's site. Visitation will precede the Mass at 9:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church and Lourdes Academy.
Helen's family would like to sincerely thank Theda Care at Home Hospice and the staff at Eden Meadows for their loving and compassionate care of her in her last days.
May she rest in peace.
