Ina S. Werner, 89, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center. Born on April 19, 1936, in Lithuania to John and Ann Kanisauskas, Ina's journey took her from a refugee in Denmark during WWII to making her home in North America, first in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, and later Chicago, Illinois.
Ina’s incredible life was marked by her determination and accomplishments. She graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Science in marketing and married her love, Edward Werner, in 1960. As they started their life together, they moved to Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, where Ed pursued a degree in engineering while Ina worked at a government services lab, contributing to groundbreaking projects, including the gyroscope for the moon mission. Their life in Oshkosh, Wisconsin followed, where Ed worked at Kimberly-Clark and Ina held a position with Associated Bank.
A lover of all things outdoors and cultural, Ina and Ed enjoyed sailing and participating in regattas, making wonderful memories on Lake Winnebago. Whether she was golfing, tending to her garden, reading a good book, or soaking up the beauty of ballet and opera, Ina embraced life to the fullest. She also cherished traveling and creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Ina is survived by her children, John (Stephanie) Werner and Darija Verhagen; grandchildren, Olivia and Zachary Werner and Devon, Patrick and Robert Jr. Verhagen; sister, Vida Jesewitz; nephews, Todd and Mike Jesewitz and their families.
In addition to her parents, Ina was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Werner; son-in-law, Robert Verhagen; grandson, Clayton Werner.
