Jake passed away on December 1st at Oakwood Manor. Jacob was born September 21, 1935, in the town of Primrose, Dane County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Henry and Marie (Eide) Jenson. He married Gloria Storandt on August 27, 1960, at English Lutheran Church in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
Jacob graduated from New Glarus High School in 1953. He went into the US Army in April 1954 to April 1956. Jacob was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and then at Fort Riley in Kansas.
After military service, Jacob attended La Crosse State Teacher's College. In 1960, he earned a bachelor's degree in physical education.
After graduation, he taught at Omro Elementary and Middle School from September 1960 to June 1967.
From September 1967 to 1991, Jacob spent his time teaching physical education and coaching various sports at Webster Stanley Middle School in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Jacob also taught behind-the-wheel driving at Oshkosh West High School for a number of years. He retired from teaching in 1991.
Jacob was an active member of First English Lutheran Church and ushered for 42 years.
Jacob enjoyed playing softball in recreational league. He enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers, and the Wisconsin Badgers. He also continued to follow high school athletics.
Jacob is survived by his children, Terry Jenson and Tim (Stacy) Jenson; his grandsons, Pierce (Allison) Jenson and Landon Jenson, and his great-granddaughter Ava Jenson.
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jake was preceded in death by his in-laws Ray and Aagot Storandt, his brothers Harold (Doris) Jenson, Donald Jenson, sisters Marvel (Hilmar) Martinsen, and Arlene (Leonard) Knudtson.
Also, by his brothers-law Reuben (Carol) Storandt, Raymond Storandt, sisters-law Margaret (Donald) Haag and Marcella (Robert) Koss. He was also preceded in death by his nephews Rolin and Phillip Knudtson, nieces Marie Ayers, Margaret Jacobson, and Donna Jenson.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up for various local charities.
Services with military honors will be had at First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh at noon on Saturday December 6th. Visitation will be held at 10 am and up to the service.
